John Duffey

Elected on March 4, 2009

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

OFFICIAL ANNOUNCEMENT

John Duffey was recently recognized for his musical achievements by The Ancient Order of the Mandolin when he was posthumously elected an Honorary Member of the order. John was well known as an early member of the bluegrass group "The County Gentlemen" and also for his flair for entertainment and on-stage antics. Few people have ever approached the intensity with which he attacked the mandolin and yet his playing was capable the most subtle and gentle lines when the song required it. His tenor voice was unmatched in the bluegrass realm. For many years he was the driving force behind the group "The Seldom Scene", one of the early purveyors of modernizing the bluegrass sound.

Sincerely,

B. Laird, Scribe
