Episode 140 - Get Out Of Your Rut

Does every song have to be in G or A? As I recline on the shrink's couch, I vent my frustrations of playing everything in just one or two keys and playing the same songs over and over ad nauseum.

Just for novelty, if nothing else, try playing in B or B-flat just once! I'd happily play a song in G# or Eb just for some flipping relief!

In this episode I share three ideas for getting out of your rut. Learn to play in new keys. Try new tunings and, for cryin' out loud, bring a new song to the table once in a while!

There is still time to get Jackson's Christmas Songs for Mandolin eBook. You can get it here. Trust me, when Aunt Sally comes to visit this Christmas she doesn't want to hear you play Salt Creek! She wants to hear some Christmas tunes!

Thank you to my Patreon supporters. YOU are a huge part of making this happen. I do appreciate it!

The music for this episode is:

Intro - Buddy Ashmore and Pony Express singing Prison Walls written by Randy Godwin.

Outro - Just me and my low D strung 1978 Stewart MacDonald 3R kit banjo picking a little tune I wrote called "Big D". Man I love that low toned banjo sound!
